Matt Powell Named OCAA Coach of the Year

TORONTO - For the second time in as many seasons, Teyven Blackmore (Ottawa) of Humber Polytechnic is the 2025-26 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men's Volleyball Player of the Year.

The fifth-year outside hitter is the most efficient scorer in the province. Blackmore's .388 swing percentage is the highest of anyone in the Top 10 in scoring, while his 28 service aces are the sixth-most in the province. The West Division Player of the Year has been a dominant presence on the court all season, consistently taking over matches with powerful attacks, strong all-around play, and relentless competitiveness. Also named a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian, Blackmore headlines the West Division First-Team All-Stars.

Sean Malherbe (Cochrane) of Canadore College is the East Division Player of the Year. The second-year outside hitter was a top offensive threat this season, with 196 kills and an impressive 3.50 kills per set on a .320 hitting percentage. The East Division Scoring Champion averaged 4.3 points per set across 16 matches, tallying 16 service aces, and 79 digs, making him one of the most complete and impactful outside hitters in the league. Also named a CCAA All-Canadian, Malherbe headlines the East Division First-Team All-Stars.

Sam George (Sudbury) of Cambrian College is also a CCAA All-Canadian. The second-year setter is the engine of Cambrian's offence, leading the league in assists per match, averaging an impressive 9.45, consistently putting hitters in great positions to score. George's court vision and control have been instrumental in driving Cambrian's attack this season. Last season's OCAA Rookie of the Year is also a West Division First-Team All-Star.

Enzo Endres (Sao Paulo, Brazil) of Humber is the OCAA Rookie of the Year. The outside hitter led all Humber players with 109 total digs and 32 service aces, while sitting second on the team averaging 3.00 kills per set, 183 overall kills and 26 blocks. Endres has made an immediate and powerful impact this season, consistently elevating the level of play with his skill, work ethic, and composure on the court. The West Division Rookie of the Year headlines the West Division All-Rookie Team.

The East Division Rookie of the Year is Logan Vorster (Auckland, New Zealand) of Seneca Polytechnic. The outside hitter made an immediate impact on and off the court. Vorster's exceptional attacking efficiency and ability to score in all situations has helped Seneca transition into a conference contender. Vorster has been in the OCAA Top 5 in the OCAA for most of the season in kills and kills per set average. Also named an East Division First-Team All-Star, Vorster headlines the East Division All-Rookie Team.

Seneca's Matthew Powell is the OCAA Coach of the Year. The Sting had quite the turnaround in Powell's second season with the program, improving on a 6-12 record in 2024-25 to a near perfect 15-1 record and East Division championship. The East Division Coach of the Year is also the nominee for CCAA Coach of the Year.

Dale Beausoleil of Cambrian College is the West Division Coach of the Year. Beausoleil has guided the Shield to new heights, winning their first-ever West Division championship with a 13-3 record. Beausoleil's leadership, preparation, and commitment to player development have been central to the program's historic success.

The OCAA Scoring Champion is Liam Hansen (Perth) of Cambrian. The third-year right side lead all players averaging 4.5 points per set in 16 matches totalling 242. The West Division Scoring Champion is also a West Division First-Team All-Star.
