Alfred, Lamacchia Lead Sting

The Seneca Sting rebounded from their first loss of the season, defeating the VIU Mariners 2-0 to advance to the CCAA National Championship semi-final.

The Sting were outplayed for most of the first half, but the defense and goalkeeper Raven Edwards-Dowdall kept the Mariners off the scoreboard. Alfred opened the scoring early in the second half as the Sting settled into the match and began to control the play. In the 84th minute, Olivia Lamacchia made amends for an earlier crossbar shot, providing the Sting with breathing room.

Lamacchia was named Player of the Match for the Sting.

The Sting (14-1-0) will play Ahuntsic on Thursday, November 10 in the semi-final of the CCAA National Championship.
