Playing in heavy rains, the Seneca Sting (6-1-1) played to a 2-2 draw with the Durham Lords (3-3-2) at Seneca Fields.
The Sting opened the scoring in the 8th minute when Chantel Cifuentes tallied her seventh goal in eight games.
With the rain creating very slippery conditions on the new turf field, the Lords took advantage of a couple defensive miscues by the Sting. Milinda Roblero tied the match in the 20th minute and Natassha Hassenstein gave the Lords the lead in the 23rd minute.
Trailing at halftime, the Sting applied pressure early against the Lords and were able to even the match in the 54th minute. First year Georgia Thompson netted her sixth of the season in just her seventh game.
Despite pressure from both teams, neither were able to score the go ahead goal and each team was left with their first draw of the season.
Sting goal keeper Kaitlyn James recorded 9 saves with the Lords attempting 18 total shots.
Jayden Ball totalled 8 saves for the Lords on 15 attempted shots by the Sting.
The Lords outnumbered the Sting in cornerkicks 8 to 3.
