The Seneca Sting dropped their home opener to the Mohawk Mountaineers, falling 11-0.
The Mountaineers attacked the Sting early with Sarah Bell leading off the game with a walk and then stealing second. Bell would come around to score on a single by Shelby Hayward. The Mountaineers would go on to score three runs in the inning of Sting pitcher Brianna Bader.
In the third inning, the Mountaineers would add to their lead with the first four batters of the inning crossing home plate.
Offensively, the Sting were held at bay by Aimee Leduc, mustering just three hits in the game off Leduc and Andie Bomberry.
A run in the sixth and two in the seventh inning completed the scoring.
The Sting were led by Bader who had two hits in the game. Amanda Van de Graaf had the third Sting hit. As a team, the Sting finished with two stolen based.
For the Mountaineers, Leduc reached base four times while Bell batted 3-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored. Hayward and Meagan Byers each scored two runs.
The win moved the Mountaineers to 2-1 on the season while the Sting fell to 0-3.
