Brutto Steps Down After Decade with Sting

After ten years with the Seneca Sting Soccer programs, assistant coach Carmelo Brutto has announced his resignation.

“This is extremely difficult to do and to put into words” said Brutto. “This journey has been a part of my life that will never be forgotten. It’s been a great ride and a great chapter!”

Brutto cited both personal and professional focuses that would not allow him to contribute the time he felt the team deserved.

During Brutto’s tenure with the Sting, he was on the sideline for a CCAA Men’s Soccer championship, an OCAA Women’s Soccer championship, two OCAA Women’s Indoor Soccer championships, a CCAA Women’s Soccer bronze medal and a handful of OCAA medals with both the Women’s and Men’s teams.

Linda Stapleton, Director of Sport and Recreation had high praise for Brutto and the time he dedicated to the Sting program.

“Carm’s dedication, passion and commitment to the Sting program has been immeasurable. The success of our soccer programs are a direct reflection of the time and energy Carm has devoted to recruitment, teaching and game preparation. Carm will certainly be missed, but we do wish him continued success in his personal and professional endeavors. We are very thankful to Carm for his many contributions to the Sting Family.”

Women’s Soccer tryouts will commence August 15. The team will begin the regular season at home on Saturday, September 16 against the Algonquin Thunder.
