The Seneca Sting (9-0-0) completed a perfect regular season with a 3-1 win over the Centennial Colts (2-7-0).
The Sting, sitting a number of their starters, played a closer match than the records would have predicted against the rival Colts who captured the final playoff spot in the East Division.
Olivia Lamacchia opened the scoring in the 14th minute when she beat Colts' goalkeeper Sabrina Rizzo. Midway through the first half, Milinda Roblero had a chance to increase the Sting lead, but her penalty kick struck the outside of the post on a shot which would have easily beat the Colts' goalkeeper.
For just the fifth time all season, the Sting allowed the opposition to get on the scoreboard when Nailah Rowe scored the equalizer in the 38th minute.
Looking to maintain a perfect season, Sona Makulova made her push towards a division scoring title, scoring in the 62nd minute on a near 40-yard rocket.
Makulova netted her twelfth of the season when she secured the ball in a scramble in front of the goal and drove a shot into the back of the net in the 71st minute.
The Sting attempted 36 shots, hitting the net 10 times while the Colts attempted 7 shots and placing 3 shots on goal. The Sting held a 16-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Sting will host the Conestoga Condors in the First Round of the OCAA Playoffs on Saturday at 1:00pm at Seneca Fields.
