The Seneca Sting (1-8) battled to win the third set, but ultimately fell to the Algonquin Thunder (5-4) in four sets 25-14, 25-21, 21-25, 25-15.
The Sting faced a height disadvantage all afternoon, constantly sending an undersized blocker or attacker up against one of the Thunder's towering attackers. The result was a 52-17 advantage in kills for the Thunder, led by Tom Cullingworth's 15 kills. Adding to the attack was Richard Bucar who finished with 12 kills while Seneca's Ehasna Ghazanfari led the team with just 6 kills.
Defensively, the Sting were able to match up with the Thunder as Libero David Blom finished with a match-high 19 digs.
Lior Mospan did his best to run the undersized Sting attack, finishing with 15 assists with Blom adding two assists.
From the service line, the Thunder had a "make-or-break" approach, finishing with 9 aces, but missing 21 serves while the Sting recorded 6 aces and 7 serving errors.
Leading the Thunder offense was Jackie Nguyen who finished with 40 assists to go along with 5 digs.
