Sting Open Quick, Fall Late

The Seneca Sting won the first set, but fell to the Loyalist Lancers in four sets 25-23, 14-25, 19-25, 13-25.

In their closest match of the season, the Sting and Lancers looked like two evenly matched teams, highlighted by an opening set which saw the Sting garner the first two-point advantage at 24-22. An Isaiah Fogah block clinched the opening set for the Sting, shutting down a Lancers rally.

The Lancers rallied in the second set, playing flawless volleyball while defeating the Sting 25-14.

With the match even, the two teams returned to near equals. With both teams exchanging points, the Lancers finally broke through to take a 19-17 advantage. A Sting timeout did not halt the momentum as the Lancers took a two sets to one lead with a 25-19 win.

The final set was all Lancers as they closed out the Sting.

A trio of Sting finished with 8 kills, including Zachary Orat (12 digs), Arsam Talebi (11 digs, 3 assists, 2 aces) and Isaiah Fogah (3 digs). Lior Mospan added 23 assists and 12 digs while David Blom had 20 digs.

Josh Roberts led the Lancers with 12 kills to go along with 4 aces and 3 digs. Trevor Fortier (5 digs) and Andrew Hudgins each had 8 kills. Former Sting Savino Marques had 39 assists and 4 digs.
