SENECA STING WIN MEN'S SOCCER OPENER VERSUS GEORGE BROWN
The defending national champion Seneca Sting defeated cross-town rival George Brown 3-1 in the OCAA men’s soccer regular season opener for both clubs. Fourth-year striker Kailen Murphy (Scarborough, Ont.), third-year forward Patrick Lamego (Toronto) and first-year midfielder Mauricio Chamale (Markham, Ont.) all scored for the victorious Sting. Murphy scored nine goals for Seneca last season. Third-year midfielder Michael Ferracci (Toronto) scored George Brown’s lone marker. Both teams battled to a 1-1 draw last season.
STING MEN'S SOCCER TIE CAMBRIAN 1-1
Kaylen Murphy opened the scoring for the Sting in the 15th minute off a corner kick. The Men, controlled the tempo, pace and possession of the game, but also had to deal with a very stingy defense. Cambrian tied the game in the 65th minute and hung on to secure the tie. The Men now post a 1 win 0 loss and 1 tie record.
MEN'S SOCCER DEFEAT CENTENNIAL 3-2
The Seneca Mens team got off to a slow start, where they found themselves trailing 2-0 after just 20 minutes. However, the team did not panic, played their way back into the game and tied the game 2-2 by half time on goals by Joey Amato and Matt Phanouvong. With 20 minutes to go 4th year veteran Kailen Murphy put the Sting ahead for good, after a great pass from Martin Mlend. Final score 3-2 Sting
SENECA DOWNS TOP-RANKED ALGONQUIN
The defending national champion Seneca Sting had a successful trip to the nation’s capital this weekend, defeating two previously unbeaten teams in the process. In a Friday night encounter with the La Cite Coyotes, fourth-year striker Kailen Murphy (Scarborough, Ont.) netted a pair of goals and third-year midfielder Claudio Posca (Maple, Ont.) added another as Seneca won 3-2. First-year defender Nicholas Parker (Ottawa) and OCAA leading scorer Jose Bruno Mota (Guatemala) scored for La Cite. Seneca returned to Thunder Yards the following day, edging Algonquin 2-1. Marco Roberti (Bolton, Ont.) and Matthew Phanouvong (Brampton, Ont.) earned key goals for the Sting. Algonquin’s lone goal came off the cleat of first-year striker Abdul Ibrahim (Ottawa).The six-time defending OCAA champion Thunder entered the weekend ranked No. 1 in Canada. With its two victories, Seneca (4-0-1) takes over top spot in the East Division, leading second-place La Cite (3-1-1) by three points, and third-place Algonquin (3-1-0) by four with three games remaining in the season.

The men’s soccer team (5-0-1) improved on their unbeaten record taking a 4-0 decision from the Vikings’s men’s squad. Matthew Phanouvong scored a
pair while Vasco Silva and Michael Anderson followed suit for Seneca.
