CRE-8 YOUR BEST BODY RESULTS
Hello all Cre-8 YOUR Best Body competitors!
The results are in and it was a tough one to determine all of our winners - However there has to be one!
The Athletics and Recreation department has declared that Walter Duque-Raad and Sophia Protopapas
are our S@Y campus male and female Cre-8 YOUR Best Body winners. Congratulations to both of them.
This year, our "Couples Category" winners were here at S@Y and were awarded to
Kalpaniya Parmar & Sumayya Iqbal. Congratulations to them as well.
Our random draw prize winners were Kazi Zaman and Yingyi Shen. A thank you goes out to the SSF for their
donation of the 2 $50 gift certificates to Sport Check.
I would also like to congratulate all of you who entered and completed the 8 week program. Joining the challenge was
just the first, small step toward the new you. I'm glad you made the decision to do it, not just dream about doing it.
The real difference between a dream and a decision is simple: commitment. A dream is based on wishes; things that you
hope will occur. A decision is the initial step in an active pursuit of something you truly want. A solid decision
leads to commitment; commitment leads to success. I hope you have achieved the confidence to know that you can set and
achieve any goal you desire.
This semester we had another very successful outcome to the challenge. We will now take a break during
the winter and summer months to make some earth shattering improvements. The challenge will begin again for the Fall
2011 semester. I would especially like to encourage those of you who did not finish your program the first time to try
again! Imagine how you would look and feel right now if you hadn't given up on yourself! Remember the power of
persistence! This time, maintain a blood smelling, fighter-pilot, life-or-death attitude… you know what you want, go
out and get it! Let nothing stand in your way Life rewards action! Take this time now to Cre-8 YOUR Best Body. See
you all next fall.
Yours in fitness,
RJ Shupe

Words from Sumayya Iqbal
> What did you do to separate yourself from the other participants in the program?
I just tried to focus my goal that I made in the start of the challenge, worked constantly and always worked
little more from the last time I worked.
> What kept you going?
The challenge made me keep going.

More fruits and vegetables, a good diet and healthy food.
> What were the biggest obstacles and challenges you faced and how did you overcome those?
It was a good times working and did not face a really big challenges but ya just keeping my self going was
a little bit of challenge, and I came over it just by giving my self more time.
Individual Male Winner
Walter Duque-Raad
> What did you do to separate yourself from the other participants in the program?
I’ve always had trouble with my weight even as a kid. I’ve been big most of my life.
> What kept you going?
The prize and possible recondition kept me motivated.
> What nutritional changes did you make?
I stuck with a lot of water. I tried to stay away from carbs and fried food and I limit the quantity of food I’ll
eat each time.
> What were the biggest obstacles and challenges you faced and how did you overcome those?
I work at colossus, so the food is so cheap because of my employee discount. Sometimes I’ll go to work and bring
no food. But I stuck to water and popcorn. With fighting temptations I also had to put in time to workout. I found
it really hard to motivate myself especially with the cardio. But I just listened to some fast passed rock music to get my mind of the pain and discomfort.
Individual Female Winner
Sophia Protopapas
> What did you do to separate yourself from the other participants in the program?
I really didn't view the program as a competition against others, it was more of a competition against myself. It was a lifestyle change that I have been working on for quite some time now. I see exercising and changing my diet as a way of improving myself. It became a habit rather than a task. I was able to train my mind therefore my body followed.
> What kept you going?
The results kept me going. The greater the results, the better I felt. I was much happier, stronger, the tasks in my
everyday life became so much easier. Why not keep going? I have one body for the rest of my life, I should make the
best of it.
> What nutritional changes did you make?
I don't know where to start with this question, I could probably write a book with it. I no longer ate because i
enjoyed what I was eating, I ate because of the way it made me feel. You get out of your body what you put in. Lets
just say everything I ate was fresh and unprocessed. I stayed away from anything that was high in saturated/trans fat.
I started off low carbs, then I began to cycle them because I found was lacking energy. One day low carbs, next day med carbs, one day a week would be high carbs, usually whatever day I'm training my legs. Protein became a major part of my diet. One day a week I would treat myself to whatever I wanted to eat, within moderation.
> What were the biggest obstacles and challenges you faced and how did you overcome those?
My body became accustomed to workouts, I would have to switch my routine every three weeks. Confusing my body to make
it work that much harder.
